Lucetta, a brown filly by Reveller out of Luss by Hedley was foaled in 1826. Bred by Mr. Stanlake Batson (later the breeder of the outstanding Derby winner Plenipotentiary, Lucetta was sold to Sir Mark Wood for 2,000 guineas as a two year old before she ever ran - a remarkable price for the period. She won four races in 1829, three times in 1830 including the Ascot Gold Cup and in 1832 won the Goodwood Stakes.
